The last 7 days have been busy ones for TECHART. They’ve announced not one, not two, but three new power kits for various Porsche models. All of the new power kits are focused on Porsche Turbo model vehicles, effectively making the best in each line (arguable…I know…but let me have this one) even better.

First up is the TECHART power kit for the Porsche 911 Turbo. It’s no secret that I LOVE the 911 Turbo, so promises of enhancing it always catch my attention. The company has developed a kit that boosts under hood ponies to 700! 0 to 62 mph happens in 2.8 seconds. That’s fast enough to qualify for Capitol One “Crazy Fast” status in my opinion. With that much power on tap, along with the right set up, you’re good for over 218 mph.

Also part of the conversion kit is a fresh TECHART sport air filter, manifolds, Turbo chargers VTG, high performance intercoolers and carbon fiber engine styling package. TECHART also makes a few adjustments to the engine management programming.

Now if that weren’t enough, TECHART decided to address both the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Porsche Panamera Turbo.

For the Cayenne Turbo, a boost to 660 hp was in order along with a number of the other TECHART performance enhancement items mentioned above. Added to the package is the company’s sport exhaust system complete with sport tailpipes tipped in polished stainless steel. The exhaust system enhances the sound note to match the other modifications.

The result is 0 to 62 mph a full half second faster than the stock model. Just 4.2 seconds. Top speed pushes up to 189 mph. I’m not sure I’d be willing to go that fast in a Porsche Cayenne.

On to the Panamera Turbo. The big enhancements are, again, performance based. Focus on the installation of new TECHART turbo charges and a TECHART sport air filter increases performance and handling. 0 to 62 mph drops to 3.7 seconds. Get this…top speed jumps above the 200 mph mark to 202 mph. Unbelievable!

All in all, the mods TECHART produces are pretty tasteful and focus on making great cars even better. I’m not always in love with their external effects, but that’s relegated to personal choice rather than a dig on the company.

I have a friend who loves LEGOs. He even worked for the company as a designer at one point. The guy has more LEGOs than many small stores do. The detail that some people can see in their minds, then figure out how to get there using something like LEGOs is mind blowing to me.

This particular LEGO creation is no exception. Someone with a heck of a lot more time on their hands than I have, along with way more imagination, has created a great replica of a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. What’s amazing is they added motors and other goodies enabling the creation to run, shift gears, retract the spoiler, even a working replica of Porsche’s PDK transmission. It has many of the same details as the real deal. Check out the video:

This little beauty contains almost 3500 parts and includes 8 motors, 3 remote controllers, 3 IR receivers, 3 pairs of lights, and nearly 7 meters of wire according to the video. The attention to detail is just crazy.

Typically I love Porsche special edition cars. They seem to have those little touches that make them stand out from the norm and increase desirability enough to cause you to mull over the “what ifs” in your mind. This time around, Porsche missed the mark for me on the Porsche 911 Tenth Anniversary Edition. Perhaps I just don’t get it, not plugged into the Chinese culture and what will get the juices of 10 über wealthy Chinese men going. This car looks more like something destined for the roads of Saudi Arabia than China and reminds me of that gold plated Porsche from a couple of years ago (Weekly Porsche Wrap).

Fortunately for Porsche, my opinion doesn’t mean squat and this limited edition Porsche 911 will probably sell out before the first car even hits Chinese soil.

Built to commemorate ten years of Porsche presence in China, the Porsche 911 Tenth Anniversary Edition is based on the 911 Turbo S Coupe and limited to just 10 cars. It’s got the 3.8 liter Turbo S engine delivering 523 hp with 516 lb-ft of torque through Porsche’s 7′speed PDK transmission. 0 to 62 mph comes in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph.

The external styling and interior touches seem to be the big differentiators. Classic gold paint with matte black finish used on the exterior carbon fiber pieces such as the hood, mirrors and rear spoiler. There are also Porsche badges showing the cars production number and limited edition logo both on the exterior of the car as well as inside the cockpit. Gold is, of course, used throughout the interior including black outline of gold for the instrument panel.

The Porsche 911 Tenth Anniversary Edition is supposed to arrive sometime this month at a price of RMB 3,488,000 yuan. That works out to about $538,000. Maybe they’re using REAL gold on this baby!

One thing I do have to say I really really like about this particular special edition car is the picture of the car set against the Great Wall. Absolutely love that image.

I found this press release from a few weeks ago an interesting one. It’s from TECHART about a new model they’re producing. Literally…a model. It seems TECHART wanted to provide a Porsche even those of us without the means of the top 1% of the world’s population could afford.

The TECHART limited edition GTStreet model is a collectible 1:43 scale model with fine detail replicating the actual program for Porsche 911 Turbo and GT2 cars. The cars are painted in California orange and black, and limited to just 300 units. Each car comes with a clear acrylic display case that includes a base plate showing the serial number.

Definitely a cool addition to any Porsche scale model collection. I’m a little surprised they’re marketing these though. Seems like scale model shops and sites tend to have this covered. Plus at EUR 59.90, the profit certainly isn’t the driver here. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen a Porsche tuner market models like this. I suspect it’s kind of like the vanity billboard scenario aimed at appeasing some exec more than anything.

You can order your scale model at the TECHART site here: TECHART Collectors Models.

When Porsche announced the official production of the Porsche 918 Spyder, they also announced the opportunity to purchase a special edition Porsche 911 Turbo S. You have the option of a Coupe or Cabriolet. The car carries inspired design cues from the 918 Spyder’s styling on both the interior and exterior.

Some of the features include:

Similar exterior colors

Carbon-fiber elements inside and out

Enhanced leather equipment

Numerous acid-green accents on items such as the brake calipers, illuminated sill plates, interior stitching and instrument cluster needles

Probably one of the most notable things is a limited edition badge on the glove compartment door. It will feature the same production number as your Porsche 918 Spyder. LOVE that!

The Porsche 918 Spyder is limited to 918 units, thus limiting the Porsche 911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder to the same production of no more than 918 cars. Unlike the 918 Spyder, the 911 Turbo S will begin hitting customer’s doorsteps later in 2011.

Base price for the 918 Spyder Edition of the 911 Turbo S is set at $160,700 for the Coupe version and $172,100 for the Cabriolet model. Add that to the 918 Spyder’s price tag and you’re dropping a cool mil on the package.

This has got to be one of the coolest special edition cars Porsche has ever offered. Not necessarily because it’s so much different than anything you could currently get your hands on, but more due to the tie in to the Porsche 918 Spyder. The personalization of the badging between the two cars is pretty sweet too.

It’ll be interesting to see how many 918 Spyder orders include an order for the 911 Turbo S. My guess is about 50%. I’m also curious to see how much these special edition 911 Turbo S cars will appreciate in value and how quickly.

Today I’ve got a trio of Tempting Porsches. Found all of these in about 10 minutes on Craigslist. Crazy how many great cars are up for sale there.

Tempting Porsche #1

This is my favorite of the bunch. It’s not an actual 911 Turbo, but a Turbo Look with some engine modifications. The car is a 1975 Porsche 911 Turbo Look Slantnose. Light gray with black interior. It’s got 57k miles on it, although I’m guessing that’s after a rebuild (or two). Here are some more details from the ad:

I love this car, and the only reason that I’m selling it is because I’m becoming a father, and this is not really a practical “daddy” car.

The car has 57,xxx miles with a CLEAR TITLE. A new $12,000 engine was installed and has only 7,000 miles on it to date. I have all the records for this. This car is NOT TURBO. It is a 2.7 with 6 carburetors, high performance installed by Porsche and some other parts.

Runs and drives great. Fuel lines and the clutch are new. Has a set of 2004 wheels with new Dunlop tires, in excellent condition with about 95% rubber.

Moon roof works perfectly and does NOT leak. Doors, locks and mirrors are fine, power windows work just fine. All lights work.

Asking Price: $19,000

I LOVE the look of this car. This is one I would drive and enjoy all day long, even if it’s not turbocharged.

Tempting Porsche #2

Next up is a black, 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo. This one is an actual Turbo with 99k miles on the odometer. Great color and a great year. For classic Turbos, black and red are by far my favorite colors. Here is a description from the ad:

Wow! What an opportunity to own the real 1985 spec 930 Turbo. This car has all the pedigree and documentation that would make any Porsche enthusiast salivate. All records and upkeep with documentation of authenticity from Porsche Cars of North America. This is a “Real” car, not something that has been tracked or abused. Always garaged, never in the rain, and can run circles around anything in its way. Car has updated intercooler, clutch, and brand new Pirelli PZeros.

Asking Price: $26,950

Lulay’s (where the car is for sale) tends to get nice cars on their lot. Be a great car, especially if you could talk them down a few grand.

Tempting Porsche #3

Last one for today is, crazy enough, another Porsche 911 Turbo Look Slantnose. I swear I’ve only seen one or two other Turbo Look cars available in the Portland area the last couple of years, and maybe one other Slantnose. This one is a 1976 and claims to have a steel body conversion. Just 41k miles oner. White with black interior. From the ad:

1976 PORSHE 911 SLANT NOSE TURBO CLONE, 41K ORIGINAL MILES BY ONE SINGLE LOCAL OWNER!! PROFESSIONALLY CRAFTED IN METAL PARTS TO CREATE THE BEST SLANT-NOSE CLONE WE HAVE EVER SEEN!! EXTENSIVE SERVICE RECORDS WITH RECEIPTS, OVER $4,000 INVESTED LESS THAN 2000 MILES AGO, BRAKES, TIRES, FUEL INJECTORS, AC CONDENSER, SHIFT LINKAGE, PEDDLE BUSHINGS, BELTS, FUEL LINE, FUEL TANK RETURN LINE, REAR SWAY BAR, TRANSAXLE MOUNT, SHIFT COUPLER, WARM UP REGULATOR, FUEL PUMP, ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH NEW!!!

Asking Price: $19,950

I’m not in love with the white, but this could also be a car that looks better in person than in the pictures. Still, a Turbo Look Slantnose…someday…
