If you’ve got a hankerin for something special and have a couple hundred thousand to burn, this very well could be the car for you. David Beckham’s Porsche 911 Turbo is up for auction on eBay with just under 5 days left. Currently the bid is at $153,500. Rumor has it that Chequered Flag, the dealer selling the vehicle, turned down an offer of $175,000 to end the auction early. It’s hard to believe this car would go for significantly more than that.

It’s a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet that was purchased new at Beverly Hills Porsche. Beckham dropped some serious coin customizing this car after it was purchased. Which brings us to an important question: What makes this car special other than a celebrity owner? First off, it’s highly unique with blacked-out headlights, special alloy wheels, a Techart exhaust and has Beckham’s LA Galaxy #23 embroidered on the head rests. It’s got an interesting all matte black finish on the exterior. I’m not the fence whether or not I like the look.

One nice touch are custom Porsche emblems throughout the car. I have to say I really like the look of those.

This is a pretty interesting car. Do you buy a car like this to put in a collection, drive or what? I get the celebrity ownership to a degree, but commanding that high of a price? And what happens when David Beckham falls into “has been” status? I guess I just don’t quite get the huge premium to be paid for the opportunity to sit your butt where a celebrity has sat his. I kind of wonder what the exact same car minus the 23 embroidered on the seats and David Beckham’s name on the title would fetch.

Check out the auction and more pictures here: David Beckham’s Porsche 911 Turbo.

I’ve been reading up a bit lately on what Porsche tuners have been turning out and I came across the Speed9 from Porsche tuner 9ff. Unveiled to the world at the Essen Motor Show last month, the Speed9 takes the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet and changes things up.

My first thought when I saw pictures of the car was a cross between a Boxster and early Speedster. The lines are definitely more Boxster-like with the covering over the rear seat. That’s the biggest visual change that catches me right off the bat.

9ff has taken one of the fastest cars Porsche has ever produced and attempted to up the ante. They beefed up power output from 500 hp to 650 hp. This is accomplished through the use of 9ff F650 VTG turbochargers, a new sports catalytic converter, updated exhaust manifolds, sport air filter and ECU upgrade.

Contributing to the Speedster-like silhouette are a shortened windshield, the cover over the rear seats and the 9ff Speed9 aerodynamics package. The aero package consists of front and rear aprons and side skirts all designed to optimize the handling characteristics of the car according to the company.

The interior wasn’t left behind with an Alcantara covered dash and door trim pieces, special 9ff sport seats exclusive to the Speed9 and a 9ff sports steering wheel. With an entry price of around $360,000, I’m sure most customers will opt for heavy interior customization to fit personal taste.

I know many hate it, but I like the looks of the black rims against the light colored car. Add the two tone exterior colors and it’s an eye-catching piece of machinery. That should be expected though for such a hefty price tag. I have to wonder sometimes if the people who buy these cars are just looking for something to blow their cash on rather than buying for a particular reason, such as something that is crazy fast or has wild 80′s Gemballa-like styling.

At the end of the day, this is a great looking, uniquely styled car that any of us would probably love to drive if money were no object.

While my wife and I were in Hood River, Oregon this summer, celebrating our anniversary, we came across an amazing group of Porsches. Unfortunately we didn’t have a better camera with us, but we snapped some quick pictures of this group two different times.

All 4 of these 911 Turbos were parked outside the Columbia Gorge Hotel, a historic hotel with gorgeous grounds. We were staying just next door in the amazing Columbia Cliff Villas Resort (if you ever have the chance to stay in one of these with a river view, don’t hesitate to do it), but walked over to see the hotel and grounds.

Here are pictures from the first time we saw them:

The next day, we were in downtown and came across the same group parked on the street.

This is my favorite picture from the bunch we took. I absolutely love the color, the wheels (sorry those of you who don’t like the black rims) and of course the fact that it’s a 911 TURBO!

I want to be part of this group some day.

I was searching around on eBay yesterday morning, looking at what Porsche bargains might be awaiting me, when I came across this 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose. It appears to be a factory slantnose with some other modifications like these listed in the auction:

Porsche RS racing struts and shocks SSI stainless steel exhaust Gerret ball bearing turbo 400 bhp.

Nothing really out of the ordinary there, but then it gets a little strange. And I can’t tell if it’s legit or someone with a heck of a creative way to get you to take a second look at the car.

This car has a clean title however doesn’t have a clean car fax this car was once a stolen car in the state of New Jersey . The original owner had the car stolen and took a buy out for the insurance company and hid the car for 10 years until the statue of limitations ran out and then and then sold it to dealer in another state and got it a clean title . There is several states that categorize stolen cars as salvage however this car is not a salvage car I had it inspected before I bought it in 2008 and exported into Canada . The guy I bought it from disclosed all of this to me as I now have all the information about the car.

How weird is that? Sounds like it’s straight out of a movie. Why in the world you would do such a thing is beyond me, not to mention why, after the fact, you’d actually fess up to the story. Isn’t there still some way for the guy to get busted for this? Seems like there would be.

How he’d pull this off is also baffling to me. Maybe I just don’t have the hardened criminal personality that would let me get away with a crime like this. I think I’d crack like a grade school girl at first brush with the police.

Regardless of whether or not it’s true, that is one heck of a sexy Porsche. A Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose is definitely on my list to own some day. Here’s a link to the eBay auction if you want to check out more pictures: Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose.

What do you think of the story? Legit or one heck of a good tale?

Misha, a Porsche tuner I hadn’t previously heard of, has released a new kit for the Porsche 911 Turbo (997). It’s a body kit that has a number of different options depending on your budget and desired outcome. Here’s a quick list of what they replace:

Add-on Wing

Front Bumper

Hood

Rear Bumper

Side Skirts

I kind of like the look of the kit. It reminds me of a race car setup with the low skirting and overall lines. The color above is not my favorite, but I bet this would look great in black or even silver. This one kind of looks like a bumble bee.

I couldn’t find costs immediately available for the parts, but Misha Design claims that one of their goals it to offer affordable components to Porsche tuning shops. If the parts were well made and reasonably priced, I would think these guys would get some traction among Porsche enthusiasts.

If you’re unfamiliar with Misha, here’s a little blurb about them from their site:

Misha Porsche body kit company was established 6 years ago and produces the highest-quality body kits to transform Porsche from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Recognized in the Porsche community for excellence in design, quality workmanship and outstanding service, we are dedicated to creating your dream machine.

Misha company is the result of Misha Rade Djordjevic’s extraordinary passion for designing unique and visionary parts for Porsche. What started as a passion quickly turned from a hobby into a thriving business. Misha designs and creates most of the parts for his own Porsche first and only sells parts that he himself would use.

His Porsche transformations have been featured in popular car magazines, car shows and internet forums, and have earned him a reputation in the Porsche community for excellence in design, quality workmanship and outstanding service. From 2004 cars with Misha parts were at SEMA show every year.

Today Misha offers exceptional, innovative wings and body kits to enthusiasts at affordable prices and also supplies parts to many Porsche tuning shops and dealers in US and worldwide.

Misha Design also provides kits for several other Porsche models as well as other makes. Check out their site here: Misha Designs.

This reminds me of a showdown Top Gear put together a couple of years ago that pitted a Porsche Cayenne Turbo against a Red Devil Parachuter (Porsche Cayenne Turbo vs. Red Devil Parachuter Race). Only this one is a bit more outrageous. Now, of course you can guess this isn’t a test of pure speed, but instead of urban capabilities as the race “track” consists of the surface streets of Manhattan during rush hour traffic.

On one side, you have a gorgeous $161,000 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet. On the other, a $6,000 Vespa GTS (GTS? Really???). Which will emerge as king of über urban driving? Here’s a video available on Bloomberg BusinessWeek documenting the showdown:

Ezra Dyer, a writer for Automobile Magazine, took a Porsche 911 Turbo to the Spectre 341 Challenge this year. Originally organized by Hans Turner during his stint as the president of the Ferrari Owners Club of Southern California in the 1970′s, the Spectre 341 is a 5.2 mile hill climb up Nevada Highway 341. The goal is to tackle 6,200 feet of elevation through 22 turns in a time of 3:41 or less. That requires an average speed of 85 mph.

I love the embedded screen showing alternate views during the run. He makes the entire thing look pretty dang simple. Great video overall.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone for pitching in to try and track down the rear wing one of our readers was interested in finding for his 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo. It will come as no surprise to the regulars here that James O is THE MAN once again. He tracked it down as a Porsche factory wing. Thanks James!

I searched a little more and found references to a 2008 Press Release from Porsche. They called the option the Aerokit Turbo option. It included a front spoiler lip and new engine cover design with the fixed wing. A pretty nice looking addition in my opinion.

Hopefully Ken can track one down, then send us pictures once it’s installed on his car!
